William Charles Wilson enlisted on the 8th February 1915. Service number 79. Posted A Squadron 4th Light Horse Brigade, 1th Light Horse Regiment. Occupation on enlistment - wireless operator. Embarked for Egypt on Troopship Medic. Sent home from Egypt on troopship Karoola after Appendicitis operation at No 1 field Hospital Heliopolis. Discharged 13 March 1916 in Brisbane - reason Incisional Hernia. Reenlisted on 26 May 1916. New service number 14528. Unit No 3 Sea Transport Section. Continuous service between Australia and England on troopships Marathon and Ulysses, serving with Australian Army Medical Corp. Discharged medically unfit again in Brisbane 1st December 1917. Rank Quarter Master Sergeant.
