Private Arthur Cecil Mollison (Service No:4814) enlisted in the AIF at Cootamundra, NSW on 3 September 1915 with 1st Infantry Battalion. Transferred to 53rd Infantry Battalion on 21 April 1916, Private Mollison embarked with his Unit from Alexandria for Marseilles on 19 June 1916. A month later, on 20 July 1916 at Fleurbaix in France, Private Mollison was captured by the Germans and held at PoW Camp Dulmen and later transferred to a camp at Schniedemuhl. Private Mollison was repatriated to England in December 1918, embarking from Liverpool for Sydney on board the Argylshire on 1 August 1919. Private Mollison was attached to 53rd Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 25 November 1919.
Arthur was born at Numurkah, Victoria in 1889, eldest of six children of John Mollison (b1842 in Sydney, NSW) and his second wife Eleanor Medwick (b1862 in Kilmore, Victoria). John (a Widower) was a Boardinghose Keeper in Euroa, where he and Eleanor married in 1887. They settled in Numurkah until 1896, when John was granted land at the Katamatite Village Settlement (Trove 1896). John and Eleanor lived at Katamatite where John was a Labourer, until his death in 1903. By 1904 Eleanor had to relinquish the land (Trove 1904), and move to Melbourne - the children were seaparated, and Eleanor died in 1911.
Arthur was working as a Labourer in Yanco, NSW before enlisting in the AIF in 1915. Following his Discharge, Arthur returned to Sydney, NSW where he was working as a Linesman with the Postmaster Genrals Dept in 1924 when he married Annie Tindale (b1893 in Bulli, NSW). Arthur and Annie settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Arthur worked as a Linesman with the Postmaster General's Department. Arthur died in 1970 and Annie in 1972.
