15 Jun 1915: Enlisted AIF WW1, Private, 1719, 28th Infantry Battalion, Place of enlistment - Blackboy Hill, Western Australia
23 Jul 1915: Embarked AIF WW1, Private, 1719, 28th Infantry Battalion, Embarked on HMAT 'A64' Demosthenes from Fremantle on 23rd July 1915.
29 Jul 1916: Imprisoned He was wounded in the left arm and back and captured on the Somme, on 29 July 1916. He was interned as a POW at Bergkaserne, Munster until being transferred to Switzerland, Hotel Eiger Murren on 14 December 1916 and later repatriated to England on 11 September 1917.
29 Jul 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 1719, 28th Infantry Battalion, Gunshot wounds to both arms and back, fractured humerus of left arm. From medical report "Hit on outer side of upper left are - missile emerged below inner border of biceps, missing median and ulnar nerves. Fracture of humerus about 3" above elbow".
