Reginald was the youngest of six children of George William Parker (born 1855 in Derbyshire, England) and Elizabeth Sheard (born 1958 in Yorkshire, England). George was a Mining Engineer when he married Elizabeth in 1887 in Derbyshire, and they settled in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire until 1899 when Elizabeth divorced George and retained custody of the children. Elizabeth and some of the children lived with her parents, and Reg and his other siblings boarded at a Children's Home.
Reg was eleven years of age when he upped his age to 14 years and was indentured as an Apprentice in the Merchant Nay in 1909. He was an Apprentice on board the Port Philip in 1912 when he deserted ship in Sydney, NSW. Reg worked as a Tent Cutter in Sydney and enlisted in the AIF in March 1916. He served as a Private (Service No:2240) with 56th Infantry Battalion, and was WiA at Boulogne, France in April 1917 (GSW to face). Reg was Discharged in January 1920. Older brother William (Service No:13299) and Brother-in-Law Charles Neville Crawshaw MC (Captain, Regimental No:18532) also served in WWI.
Reg then served in WWII with the ACMF (Staff Sergeant, Service No:N435839), enlisting in September 1942. He was attached to 5 Australian Field Baking Coy when he was Discharged in November 1945).
In 1923 in Sydney, NSW Reg married Muriel Merlene Clark (born 1901 in Carcoar, NSW) and they settled in Paddington where Reg worked as a Picture Showman through the 1930s - with a brief stint as Picture Showman at Carcoar, NSW in 1932. Following his service with the ACMF in WWII, Reg and Muriel remained in Parramatta, Sydney, NSW and Reg worked as a Crane Driver until his death in 1965. Muriel died in 1977 and they are both buried at Carcoar Cemetery.
