Kathleen was the daughter of Michael Ryan and Clara Oakley Ryan nee Graham.
Kathleen served with Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service from 24.5.1915 until 9.12.1917. During September 1916 she saw service with H.M. Hospital Ship 'Assaye' plying between the Persian Gulf and Bombay.
Kathleen resigned from the QAIMNRS and joined the Australian Army Nursing Service from 22.5.1918 where she saw service in India. Returned to Australia on 17.11.1919 per “Charon” and was discharged on 10.1.1920.
