"John C. Dingle, of Franklin-street, Adelaide, has been notified that his brother, No. 4518, Private FRANCIS PERRIN DINGLE, of the 12th Reinforcements to the 32nd Battalion, seventh son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dingle, of Ballarat, Victoria, died somewhere in France on the 21st October, 1917, from the effects of wounds and gas, aged 28 years. He was born in Ballarat, and came to Adelaide six years ago. He enlisted in August, 1916, and embarked in December, 1916. Three years prior to his enlisting he joined the firm of Dingle's Electroplating Works, of Franklin-street, Adelaide, and was well liked and esteemed by all who knew him. His brother, Private Edward Dingle, is at present serving in France, and has twice been wounded in action." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 17 Nov 1917 (nla.gov.au)
