At the time of enlistment he was residing at 'Rockleigh Grange', Edward Street, Sydney, NSW
Son of Alfred James Keenan and Kathleen M. Keating formerly Keenan of the Convent of Mercy, Victoria Square, Perth, WA and also of Sydney. Follwing Alfred's death Kathleen moved to Murchison, Victoria.
Brother of Claude Keenan who was killed in action on 11 April 1917 while serving with the 16th Battalion and is buried in the Queant Road Cemetery. Plot 111, Row B, Grave 6; Aubrey James Keenan, Sybil Keenan and Constance M. Keenan
Commenced return to Australia from Suez on 12 November 1917 aboard SS Wiltshire
