21 Oct 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, German Spring Offensive 1918, 'During the operations South of MORLANCOURT near ALBERT, on the night 10/11th June, at the height of the enemy bombardment, and after all communications had been broken, this man took special reports back to Brigade Headquarters. Although blown up by a shell, he succeeded in delivering his report. Later on during the night, he repeatedly carried messages through heavy shell fire regardless of personal safety. Through his efforts the Brigade Commander was kept fully cognisant of events.' | |

Leonard Lawernce Buckley was a soldier in World War 1. He was born in June 1897 and 18 years and 2 months old when he enlisted for war. He had grey eyes, dark hair, his height was 5 feet 3½ inches (approx. 163cm) and was 111 pounds (50kg). He was a Roman Catholic. His service number was 3000. He embarked to war on 12th January 1916 until he returned to Australia on the 10th April 1919. During his time in the war, he climbed through the ranks and was even awared a Military Medal for delivering special reports back to Brigade Headquarters after all communications had been cut, he repeatedly carried messages even through heavy shell fire. He also received two service medals: the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
