Son of Martha Isabella Murray, of 98, Milton St., St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia, and the late Hugh Murray.

13148 Driver Russell Murray, 2nd Australian Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Company. Born at Warrnambool on 4th April 1885, the son of Hugh and Martha Isabella (Ware) Murray, and grandson of Mr Hugh Murray, of Borongarook, Colac, and of Joseph Ware, of Minjah, Caramut. He was a mechanic when he enlisted on 6th September 1916, and embarked at Melbourne on HMAT A34 Persic on 22nd December 1916. He served in France for two years in the Auxiliary Mechanical Transport Column until he died of illness (broncho-pneumonia) on 22nd November 1918 (eleven days after the signing of the Armistice) at 41st Stationary Hospital, Amiens, and is buried in Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, Picardie, France.
