Christopher Bent was born on the 13th of November 1894, in his hometown of Broken Hill, in New South Wales, Australia. Before enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force, Christopher worked as a labourer, and had no other previous military service on his record. His other known family member was his mother, Mrs Nellie Bent, and his religion was Roman Catholic.

Christopher Bent enlisted into the World War 1, Australian Imperial Force on the 15th of December in 1915. Christopher’s rank was a private, and his service number was 2886. He embarked for active service overseas from Adelaide, on the H. MATA 60 Aeneas. On the 22nd of August 1916, Christopher was taken on strength of the 8th Training Battalion from Egypt. On the 13th of March 1917, he went to hospital due to sickness, but rejoined the battalion on the 2nd of April of 1917. On the 15th of May 1918, Christopher was wounded in action with gas, and three days later was admitted to hospital from the Field Medic Unit due to his wounds. He rejoined the battalion on the 16th of September 1918. On the 31st of October 1918, Christopher was admitted to hospital due to Influenza. He was discharged from hospital on the 12th of November 1918, but later, returned to Australia on the 5th of February 1919, because of Influenza. Christopher was eventually discharged on the 3rd of April 1919, at Adelaide, South Australia.

After the war, Christopher Bent died on the 4th of February 1948, at the age of 53.
