Son of William Quinert and Maud Alice Quinert nee Manton of Armstrong Street, North Ballarat, Victoria.
Brother of Philip Quinert who returned to Australia having served with the 2nd Battalion and William Norwood Quinert who returned to Australia having served with the 2nd Australian General Hospital
7 September 1914 but was discharged on 31 January 1915 because he refused to be vaccinated.
28 April 1916 - re-enlisted at Ballarat with the 2nd Australian General Hospital with the rank of Private, Service number 6484
Commenced return to Australia on 4 July 1919 aboard HT Norman Disembarking on 18 August 1919
