Son of William Cecil and Jessie Hannah Searle of 'Woorayl', Grenville Street, Hampton, Vic; brother of Edgar  Thomas Searle MID who returned to Australia

Plane was Bi-plane 7133 which was doing a recoonaisance of Beersheba and Irgeig when it was attacked by an enemy plane. The port wing folded and the plane crashed tot he ground
