Wounded in action - 19.10.1917 (GSW left shoulder & arm, severe, Battle of Passchendaele - http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article138741123, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article138743637),

Pat was invalided to England on the 24.10.1917, returning home March 1918, and discharged medically unfit on the 20th April 1918.

Mr Hansen’s name has been inscribed on the Carrington Citizens' Memorial Gates, St. Mary's-Marist Bros' School (Newcastle) Honour Roll and the Wallsend & Plattsburg G.U.O. of Free Gardeners' (Royal Oak Lodge No. 9) Roll of Honour (http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article133878487, whereabouts unknown).

There is no indication on Mr Hansen’s headstone plaque to tell us of his service with the 1st A.I.F. during The Great War, so I have placed poppies at Pat’s gravesite in remembrance of his duty for God, King and Country.
