Linde was born as Edward Ross Linde SMITH in Tamworth, New South Wales in 1893

His parents were Charles Linde SMITH & Rose Mary ROSS who married in Inverell, NSW in 1892

He enlisted in Sydney on 22nd August, 1914 and embarked with the 1st Light Horse Regiment (A squadron) on the HMAT Star of Victoria on 20th October, 1914

Linde was wounded on 10th June, 1915 at the Gallipoli Peninsular with a gun shot wound to his thigh & foot and multiple compound fractures of his foot bone - he was transported to the Greek Hospital in Alexandria where he died of his wounds on 18th June, 1915 - he is buried in the Chatby War Memorial Cemetery, Row K, Grave 161

Medals:  1914-15 Star, British War Medal & Victory Medal.
