Ewan Quine Kewley was born in 1890 at Douglas, Isle of Man.

He came to Australia in 1909 & enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 27th January, 1916 as a 26 year old Driver.

Driver Kewley, Service number 9950, embarked from Sydney, NSW on 5th May, 1916 & spent some weeks in Egypt before being shipped to England for further training. He arrived at the Australian Army Service Corps Training Depot in England on 21st August, 1916.

On 6th September, 1917 Driver Kewley was admitted to Military Hospital, Tidworth, Wiltshire with Scabies.

 

Driver Ewan Quine Kewley died at 1.40 am on 28th September, 1917 from Meningitis & Pneumonia.

He was buried privately in St. Runius Churchyard, Kirk Marown, Isle of Man in a family Grave. Private Kewley had not entered a Theatre of War.


[Ewan Kewley's older brother - Sergeant Charles William Kewley was wounded at Dardanelles & returned to Melbourne where he died on 1st September, 1915 from Pneumonia.]
