My Great Grandfather
My family has a special reason for ANZAC Day, at least one in every generation has served in the forces in one capacity or another. Arthur Henry Longworth is my great grandfather who was the recipient of The Military Medal and he received it for an act of bravery. Recently it was discovered that he rescued 5 men on the field of battle who had been left for dead (This is right isn't it Dad? *Alan*). The battlefield... Gallipoli. Though there is no copy of his actual citation, that I have found, it is documented in The Australian Military Archives along with his service record. This is a copy of that citation note.

My youngest daughter Brianna was given the opportunity to wear both sides of my families medals from not only WW1 but also WW2, when she marched one year on ANZAC Day with the Australian Navy Cadets. In a picture I have from that March she's wearing not only my Great Granddad's medals from WW1 but also Poppy Longworth's WW2 medals along side Poppy Rumble's (it’s also his birthday today, though he is no longer with us he’s not forgotten) medals on my mum's side from WW2.
