Alfred (Taff) YOULL was born on 14.02.1885 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England to John and Eleanor YOULL (nee WILKINSON).

He migrated to Australia between 1901 and 1910.   He was a bricklayer by trade and after the war, worked at the Port Pirie smelter as a mason.

He married Selena Agnes BALL on 21.01.1910 at her mother’s residence at Port Pirie.

Alfred YOULL joined the AIF on 28.09.1915 and was given service number 3932.   He was attached to the 9th reinforcements of the 27th Battalion.    He went overseas to England and served on the Western Front in Both France and Belgium.

He was discharged from the AIF in 1918 due to ongoing knee problems which was diagnosed as arthritis.   He was discharged as medically unfit for overseas service and medically unfit for home service for a period of 6 months.
