FAREWELL LINES. (By T. A Saxon.)
To my good comrade, Esmond A.Bunting, who died while on active service with the Australian forces in Egypt July 1915.
Good-bye old chap, for you "Last Post'" is sounding,
Its echoing notes from ancient hills resounding ;
Far from our native soil, 'neath far Mokattam's crest;
Good-bye old chap--I've seen you laid to rest.
We've had good times together, you and I,
On Euroa's playing-fields, in days gone by.
(On wing at "footer" you were hard to beat;
Your "curly ones" at cricket were a treat.)
We "sticked it": on the good old "Tiser" staff,
(Together had our daily "grouse" or laugh)
For seven years. We often talked of these Past happy days when sailing o'er the seas.
In work or play, old chap, you were the same--
You did your part and ever played the game;
And when the call throughout the Empire ran You heard it--and you were a Man!
No more we'll meet in sunny Austral's land
Or step-in-step trudge Egypt's burning sand :
On many a march and many a weary mile
We'll miss your merry face and cheerful smile.
Good-bye, old chap, the farewell volley's fired,
With arms reversed your comrades'have retired.
It's hard to think you're treading Death's dark valley--
We'll hope to meet when sounds the 'Loud Reveille."

IN MEMORIAM.
BUNTING-In ever loving memory. of our dear only son and brother, Pte. Esmond Bunting, who died in Egypt, 28th July, 1915.
Four sad years have passed, dear Ess, Since you spoke your last good-bye
And sailed away on yhe troopship, To Egypt's desert wild.
Your comrades have returned, dear, Ever brave and true--
We'll not forget those comrades Who were so good to you.
The cruel war is over, and peace will reign again
The troopships are returning with soldier boys so brave.
God pity the sorrowing mother's who watch for their boys in vain. R. I. P. Inserted by his loving parents and sisters.

IN MEMORIAM.
BUNTING-In everlasting memory of dear Esmond (Ess), who died of illness at Abassia Hospital, Egypt, on 28th July 1915. R. I. P.
He answered the call. His country called, he answered,
Yes! And sailed to meet the foe; He gave his life for England's cause,
What more can heroes do.
Inserted by "M. C." .BUNTING.--In sad and loving memory of our only dear son and brother, Private Esmond A. Bunting, 22nd Batt., who died in Egypt on 28th July, 1915. Aged 24 years. R. I. P.
A precious one from us is gone, A voice we loved is still,
The willing hands that helped us on Now lies in death's cold chill.
You died amongst your comrades dear, They stood by you brave and true;
I will ever love those comrades For being so good to you.
You are gone, and we are left to walk life's dreary road;
We will not complain, dear Esmond, For our sad loss, was your gain;
When God called you home to his keeping From this cruel worlds of sin and pain,
Loving remembrance will last for ever. Inserted by his sorrowing parents and sisters.
