Died on this date – 9th July ....Augustus Dellaval Toulmin was born at Camperdown, Victoria in 1895. His father died in December, 1896.

Augustus Dell Toulmin enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 14th September, 1914 as a 19 year old, single, Labourer from Terang, Victoria.

Bugler Augustus Toulman embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on HMAT Berrima (A35) on 22nd December, 1914 with the 4th Field Ambulance, 4th Infantry Brigade “A” Section. He proceeded to Gallipoli from Alexandria on 12th April, 1915.

Bugler Toulmin was admitted to 4th Field Ambulance at Anzac Cove on 5th June, 1915 with Tonsillitis. He was transferred to a Hospital Ship on 7th June, 1915. Communications sent to his mother on 7th July, 1915 advised that Private Toulmin had embarked for England on 20th June, 1915 – illness unknown.

Private Augustus Dell Toulmin was admitted to the Netley Hospital, Hampshire, England. (no date recorded).

Private Augustus Dell Toulmin died on 9th July, 1915 at Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, Hampshire, England from wounds received in action (Dardanelles) - gunshot wounds, Tonsillitis & Cardiac failure. (Note: there is no record on his Casualty Form – Active Service of Private Toulmin being wounded).

Private Augustus Dell Toulmin was buried in Netley Military Cemetery, Hampshire, England where 49 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.

**Private John Oliver Toulmin (older brother of Augustus Toulmin) was Killed in action 3rd May, 1917. He is commemorated on Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

**Gunner Thomas George Toulmin (older brother of Augustus Toulmin) enlisted 4th August, 1915, aged 22. He returned to Australia 11th May, 1919.
