James enlisted- 11/12/1915, 16yrs 9mths old, 17th Reinforcement/2nd Battalion
Departed Sydney, 13/4/1916. HMAT CERAMIC.
Joined 54th Battalion-
During the attack on Anvil Wood,on the morning of the 1/Sept/1918. James was Wounded, his condition was severe.
James returned to Australia 15/5/1919.
James married 1921 to Winifred Oconnor, raised 5 children.
he resumed his Railway career, moved to Bathurst 1940.
retired 10/7/1959.
Passed away 4/7/1966.
