17 Aug 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 3715, 5th Infantry Battalion, Mouquet Farm, Shell shock (rejoined unit 29 August).
11 Sep 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 3715, 5th Infantry Battalion, Severe wounds to left thigh and right leg, compound fracture of right leg (sustained near Ypres). Evacuated to England however died of wounds on 21 October 1916.

In sad and loving memory of Pte.Kendall Bolitho, who died at Lewisham Military Hospital, England, October 21, 1916, from wounds received in France.

Like storm tossed fallen leaves, in crimsoned glory dressed

BOLITHO

On the 21st October, at Lewisham Military Hospital, England, of wounds received in France, Kendall James, youngest son of the late T. Bolitho, of Riddell, aged 24 years.

He was a son of the late Thomas & the late Lucy Bolitho. Kendall enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 14 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne for overseas on 23 November 1915 aboard HMAT "Ceramic" (A40). He was twice wounded in action, the second time he was sent to the Military Hospital, Lewisham, London for treatment on 15 September 1916 . He died of his wounds the following month, aged 23 years.

His brother, Private Thoams Bolitho, aged 32, Service Number 1529, fell 24/04/1917 whilst serving with the 31st Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F. He had also been born at Riddell, Victoria. He is interred in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
