William James McIntosh (1879-1917)
William James McIntosh was born on 4 Jan 1879 at Ipswich, Queensland, a son to David McIntosh and Janet McIntosh (nee McPherson)- Note BDM Qld records mother as Jessie McPherson. He married Alice Martha Tilney on 25 Oct 1912 and they had 2 children. When he enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. D. McIntosh, Ipswich. When he enlisted in 1916 for WW1 he noted his N.O.K. as his wife Alice Martha Mcintosh at West End, Brisbane.
He served in both the South African (Boer) War and WW1. First service was as a Private S.N. 159 in the Queensland Imperial Bushmen, Boer War. Second service was as a Private S.N. 2965 in the 49th Infantry Battalion AIF, WW1, during which he was killed in action in Belgium.
