He was the son of Mrs. Fanny E. Ryall, of Butleigh, Glastonbury, Somerset and of Richard Ryall.. He is honoured on the Butleigh War Memorial.
Butleigh is a small village and civil parish in Somerset. The nearest village is Barton St David, and it is located a short distance from Glastonbury and Street. Butleigh has a church, small village shop, a Church of England primary school and Butleigh Nursery School.
