Archibald Charles Barton was a Private in the 9th Light Horse Regiment, 14th Reinforcement unit He was born at in Warracknabeal, Victoria February 1881. Archibald’s religion was Methodist he lived with his mother Jessie Barton, Before enlisting for the war he was a stockman.
Archibald enlisted on the 6th of September 1915 at Bay Road, Keswick, South Australia. He embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A69 Warilda on 10 February 1916 to Egypt for training.
On the 4/10/17 he was promoted to Bombardier then to Temporary Corporal then Corporal. He continued through the ranks promoted to Temporary Sergeant 3/10/17 then to sergeant 31/1/18. He was wounded on the 9/8/18 with a shrapnel wound to the scalp during the battle of Amiens.
Archibald Charles Barton returned to Australia on 22 May 1919.
