Karl AANONSEN was born in Strommen, Arendal, Norway in 1887
His parents were Aanon & Emilie Birgitte AANONSEN
Biography
Embarked Brisbane on HMAT A55 'Kyarra', 17 Nov 1916 but failed to reembark at Fremantle, Western Australia on 27 Nov 1916
Embarked Fremantle, 23 Dec 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, Feb 1917 and marched in to 7th Training Battalion at Rollestone, on 18 Feb 1917.
Regimental Number changed to 6302 before proceeding to France, where 12 Jun 1917 he joined the 27th Battalion but was transferred to 28th Battalion the following day.
Wounded in action 4 October 1917 and evacuated to England for ongoing treatment for back wounds.
Upon recovery was transferred to Machine Gun Details at Grantham, England then after a period of illness returned to France where on 17 Apr 1918 he joined the 4th Machine Gun Battalionin the field.
He was wounded in action for the second time on ANZAC Day 1918 (25 Apr) but remained in the field.
On 4 Nov 1918 he was admitted to to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbeville where he was diagnosed as dangerously ill with influenza/broncho-pneumonia. He died 10 days later at age 31
