Joseph John Dale, second son of Joseph and Anne Bridges (Guest) Dale.
He had two brothers, Percival William Dale and Charles Henry Dale.
He also had five sisters, Annie Shepherd,twin sisters Lily Colins and Jane, Florence Amelia Dale and my Grandmother Mary Jane Davies.
A talented carpenter, who worked with his brothers and Father.
A loving son, but also a loving father to Josephine Ellis, and Grandfater to her four daughters.
Joseph will live on in the bravery that he showed serving his country and his family.
I salute you.

Died on this date – 27th June....Private Joseph John Dale was born at Brunswick, Victoria in 1888. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 10th April, 1916 as a 28 year old, single, Carpenter from Coleraine, Victoria.
Private Dale embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 27th May, 1916 with the 10th Infantry Brigade, 39th Infantry Battalion, “B” Company & disembarked at Devonport, England on 18th July, 1916. He had been admitted to Ship’s Hospital on voyage to England from 25th to 27th June, 1916 with Influenza.
Private Dale proceeded overseas to France via Southampton on 23rd November, 1916.
He was granted leave in France from 25th December, 1917 & rejoined 39th Battalion in the Field on 2nd January, 1918.
Private Joseph John Dale was promoted to Temporary Corporal from 11th February, 1918 then Acting Sergeant the same day - vice 548 Sgt Achm evacuated sick. He reverted to the permanent rank of Private on 2nd May, 1918.
Private Dale was granted leave to England from 22nd June, 1918. He was admitted to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, England on 23rd June, 1918 with influenza – sick whilst on furlough.
Private Joseph John Dale died at 3.35 am on 27th June, 1918 at 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield Park, Harefield, Middlesex, England from Pneumonia & Heart Failure.
He was buried in St. Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Harefield, Middlesex, England where 112 other WW1 War Graves are located.
