Cyril was one of 4 brothers of the Thompson family in Inglewood, Victoria to enlist in WW1, 2 were killed in acton, 1 vanished after the war and only 1 returned home wounded from the war. Cyril was the local bootmaker and was unmarried. He was 23 years old when killed at Lone Pine.
