He was 28 and the son of Mrs. Jessie Sutherland and the nephew of Andrew Sutherland of Golspie, in the ancient county of Sutherland, Scotland. He is remembered on the Golspie War Memorial in Sutherland along with Private Hector W.Munro of the 2nd Bn Australian Imperial Force.
