Roderick Malcolm Livingstone BRUCE was born in Germanton, New South Wales on 20th November, 1883
His parents were James BRUCE & Harriet FENNELL who married in NSW in 1864 (registered in Albury)
He first enlisted on 21st September, 1914 and embarked with the 15th Infantry Battalion from Melbourne on the ship Ceramic on 22nd December, 1914 - he returned to Australia due to illness and was discharged on 25th January, 1915
He enlisted again on 31st March, 1916 and embarked with the 17th Infantry Battalion, 16th reinforcements from Sydney on the ship Ceramic on 7th October, 1916
Roderick died of wounds on 13th April, 1918 - no known grave - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
