12 Oct 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 1060, 38th Infantry Battalion, 1st Passchendaele, SW to chin and left shoulder. Evacuated to UK. Rejoined unit 12 March 1918.
9 Apr 1918: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 1060, 38th Infantry Battalion, German Spring Offensive 1918, SW to hip (penetrated abdomen) at Buire sur Ancre. Evacuated to 3rd Canadian CCS at Doullens where he died of his wounds the same day.

Henry Sproule WISHART was born on 28th May, 1889 in Macorna, Victoria

His parents were David WISHART and Annie Margaret BRIEN

He enlisted on 2nd March, 1916 with the 38th Battalion

Unit embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Runic on 20th June 1916

Henry died of wounds on 9th April, 1918 - buried Doullens Communal Cemetery Extension, France

He was awarded the British War medal and Victory Medal

His brother David WISHART S/N 4335 was killed in action in 1916 and his other brother Gordon Alexander WISHART survived and returned to australia

Henry (Harry) Sproule Wishart joined the first AIF on March 2, 1916. He was assigned to the 4/60th reinforcements for training at Cambellfield and on June 15, 1916 officiall transferred to the 38th Battalion (C Coy) ready for embarkation  overseas

Henry was wounded in action taking a gunshot wound in the leg & thigh on January 13, 1917 and was transferred back to England for rehabilitation.  He went to France in June 1917 and rejoined his unit on July 20, 1917.  Wounded in action in the field on October 13, 1917 he was invalided out to England until March 1918 when he rejoined his unit in France

Within a month Henry would be wounded in action and within two days had died of those wounds

He is buried in Douellers Cemetery in France

Henry Sproule Wishart, late of the A.I.F.. and formerly of Inverleigh, farmer, who died on April 9, 1918, left by will dated May 23, 1916, real estate valued at £2278 and personal property valued at £1356, to his mother and brother.

We regret having to record the death of Private Harry Wishart, word having been received from the Defence Department that he was killed in France. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. David Wishart of Macorna. This is the second son who has made the great sacrifice, a third brother was wounded at Gallipoli and was invalided home. Sincere sympathy is extended to Mr and Mrs Wishart and family who have had so much more than their share of the misfortune of war.
