Thomas Frederick HANRAHAN, (Service Number 634) was born on 16 August 1887 Marylebone, England. In 1912 he took up work as a labourer in the Electric Tram Branch at North Sydney, relocating to Randwick in July 1914. The next month he was released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces.
He became missing in action on 2 May 1915 ‘at the Dardanelles’. His body was recovered and buried during the Armistice on 24 May, in the 4th Battalion Parade Ground Cemetery about ½ mile E of Anzac Cove. It is unclear as to whether this is the same location described in other records as the SW side of Braunds Hill, ESE of Anzac Cove, or the appropriately name ‘Valley of Death’.
