Cecil Arthur Lewis's home town is Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. He is the son Mrs. H. Provis, was living at 113 Napier Street, South Melbourne, Victoria.He attended the Macarthur Street State School, and received an academic prize. He was a presbyterian.
He enlisted on the 21st April, 1915, at Melbourne, in age of 18, and he embarked on 17th June, 1915, on HMAT A62 Wandilla. He was a clerk before enlisting.
He was a Lance Sergeant in the 60th Battalion. He returned without illness or being wounded.
