14 Aug 1915: Enlisted AIF WW1, Trooper, 2161, 7th Light Horse Regiment, Andrew Jacob Baxter and his brother, Aubrey Longfield Baxter, both took their own horses from their farm to use in the Light Horse Regiment.

14 Apr 1916: Involvement AIF WW1, Trooper, 2161, 2nd Light Horse Regiment, Egypt and Palestine - Light Horse and AFC Operations, Andrew embarked as 7th LHR, 15th Reinforcement, when he arrived in Egpyt, he was posted to 2nd L.H.R. at Tel-el-Kebir. Andrew's casualty form states "Taken on strength 2nd L.H.R. Regt, Tel-el-Kebir, 14/4/16.
2 Aug 1916: Embarked AIF WW1, Trooper, 2161, Removed from Light Horse, sent via H.M.T. Ivernia from Alexandria, Egypt to England for artillery training.
7 Oct 1916: Transferred AIF WW1, Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery (AIF)
25 Feb 1917: Transferred AIF WW1, Gunner, 2nd/1st Australian Corps Ammunition Park, Detached temporarily to "K" Ammunition Park. "K" Ammunition Park is a supply unit in France.
