Son of William HERRING and Jane nee HOWEN
Mr. William Henry Herring, who died at his residence, Glencoe West, on Sunday, November 10, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Herring, and he was born at Crystal Brook in September 1881. He was thus 65 years of age.
His wife was Miss Mary Elizabeth O'Connor, of Mount Gambier, and they had a family of six sons, five of whom survive.
They are Claude William, Mount Gambier; Colin, George and John Henry, Glencoe West; and Leslie Ernest, Millicent. The daughters are Irene Mary, Glencoe West; Hilda Margaret, Mount Gambier; He served as a private for 2 1/2 years with the 27th Battalion in World War I. His remains were interred in the Mount Gambier cemetery on Tuesday, November 12. The Rev. W. J. Chittleborough of Christ Church conducted the service at the grave, and Ern James carried out the funeral arrangements.
