Victor Clarence Harris was born in April 1985 and his parent's home in Serviceton, Victoria. He later lived in McHenry Street, Murray Bridge, South Australia, with his parents, and worked as a labourer. He joined the AIF on 10 May 1916 and embarked  for overseas service in August. He joined the 48th Battalion in France in late November 1916.

He was wounded in the leg at Messines on 8 June 1917 and died of his wounds the following day. His mother completed the circular for the Roll of Honour.
