Joseph Leonard Holland BEM

Joseph Leonard Holland BEM was my Great-uncle Jose. He lived in West Hindmarsh.
I remember him as a very tall, upright gentleman. I was in awe of him.
He was a Warder at the Adelaide and Yatala Gaols in South Australia.
He was awarded the British Empire Medal for his service to the SA Prisons Department.
Joseph embarked in 1915, along with his older brother Albert, for Gallipoli, then eventually on to France. Their older brother Thomas was already on active service, also in Gallipoli.
On one occasion all three brothers met up in the trenches in France. I have a copy of that photo.
Joseph was also a prolific letter writer and I have one letter that he sent to his sister Ellen, my Grandmother.
Uncle Jose died in 1963, aged 66 years.
