His older brother, 5773 Pte. Christopher Samuel Rose 44th Battalion AIF had been killed in action in Belgium on 14 October 1917, aged 37.
A third brother, Vernon Herbert Rose 11th Battalion AIF, returned to Australia during April 1919.
They were the sons of George and Alice Rose, of Balkuling, Western Australia.
