Son of William James Upritchard and Sarah Jane Upritchard nee Littleford of Mount Pleasant, QLD. Brother of Edward James Upritchard, under the name of Edward Pritchard, who returned to Australia and Joseph Henry Upritchard who returned to Australia having served with the 2nd Machine Gun Battalion

14 January 1918 - enlisted at Brisbane QLD with the 5th QLD Reinforcements with the rank of Private

27 September 1918 - transferred to the 26th Battalion at Forvant

23 November 1918 - transferred to the 9th Battalion at Forvant

Commenced return to Australia on 23 July 1919 aboard HT Suevic disembarking on 10 September at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane

Medal: British War Medal

27 September 1919 - discharged at the 1st Military District

On 7 September 1929 William married Irene Alice Rosspigaroff in QLD
