Frederic Charles Markham Mills
Frederic Charles Markham Mills was a lieutenant and his service number was 1532.
Frederic was born in Tuena, NSW and lived in the Wentworthville area before he enlisted.
Frederic's father and mother were Herbert and Mary Markham Mills. Frederic had two brothers, Gordon Wallace, who was also a soldier that died in action and Standish Wentworth who was discharged from the army.
Before Frederic joined the army he was an engineering student.
Frederic Charles Markham Mills enlisted in Sydney on the 13th September, 1914 at the age of 20. He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Ceramic A40 on the 22nd December, 1914.
Frederic served in the army with the 12th Field Ambulance, Corps in Egypt and k supply column on the Western Front. Later he transferred to the 2nd Squadron Australian Flying Service Corps.
Frederic Charles Markham Mills unfortunately died after suffering from influenza during December, 1918, in France. He passed away on the 18th of December, 1918 in the station hospital, Paris, at the age of 24. He was buried in the city of Paris Cemetery, France.
Frederic shot down two German aeroplanes over the Western Front. Frederic Charles Markham Mills name is shown on the Blacktown war memorial NSW, Australia. He is remembered in honour on the Blacktown Soldiers' Memorial and Wentworthville School of Arts Roll of Honour.
