Leo was born as Daniel Leopold DOOLEY in 1897 in Albert Park, Victoria

His parents were Daniel James DOOLEY and Annie Margaret O'BRIEN - After his Fathers death, his mother Annie remarried to a William Patrick BENNETT in 1916 in South Australia

He had previously served for 9 months with the Senior Cadets before he enlisted for WW1
