Broughton Ruel Fuller was born in Koolunga, South Australia. Before the war, he worked as a farm labourer. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on 3 February 1916 and left Australia on 11 April 1916. His next of kin was his mother, Mrs Grace Jane Alma Fuller, who also lived in Koolunga. According to Broughton Ruel fullers’ Attestation Papers, he went into the war at the age of 26, he stood at 5 feet 8 inches tall at 170 lbs, and he had grey eyes and dark brown hair. Broughton served in the 27th Battalion, 12th Reinforcement.
Broughton Ruel Fuller survived World War I and returned home to Australia. In 1920, he married Edith and they had four children – Lyla, Ray, Yvonne and Joy. He then served in World War 2. Broughton died on July 18th, 1962 at the age of 73 and he is buried at Birdwood Cemetery. His wife Edith died in 1953 and they left behind eight grandchildren.
