Son of Daniel Quinn and Margaret Quinn nee McGrath of Victoria Street, Ballarat East, Victoria. Brother of Michael Andrew Quinn who returned to Australia on 23 March 1918 having served with the 39th Battalion.
Returned to Australia on 10 September 1917 aboard HT Ulysses
