Prior to her enlistment Sister McMillan volunteered to serve on the Hospital Ship Grantala which served with the Australian Naval and Military Expedition Force in the former German possessions of New Guinea between September and December 1914.
15 May 1915: Embarked Australian Army Nursing Service (WW1), Sister, AANS, Australian Army Nursing Service (WW1), Embarked on RMS Mooltan from Sydney on 15th May 1915, disembarking Egypt.
27 Jan 1916: Transferred Australian Army Nursing Service (WW1), Sister, Australian Army Nursing Service (WW1),
  • 27th January 1916 - disembarked at Alexandria, Egypt from Mudros
  • February 1916 - attached for duty with 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbassia
  • August 1916 - attached for duty with 3rd Australian General Hospital, Lemnos
  • 5th October 1916 - arrived in England with 3rd Australian General Hospital
  • 1st November 1916 - granted two weeks leave
  • 23rd March 1917 - attached for duty with 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield
  • 5th May 1917 - attached for duty with 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall
  • 12th May 1917 - attached for duty with 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford

    30 Jul 1919: Embarked Australian Army Nursing Service (WW1), Sister, AANS, Australian Army Nursing Service (WW1), Embarked for return to Australia in charge of nursing staff on HMAT 'A17' Port Lincoln from London. England on 30th July 1919, disembarking Sydney on 20th September 1919.

    At St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral, Sydney, on 8 November 1929 Elizabeth married Dudley Percy Davidson, a Queensland Air Navigation Co. Ltd pilot. They lived in Brisbane. Dudley was killed on 31 December 1930 in an air crash at Maryborough Queensland.
