Corporal Albert Charles Le Serv (Service No:5631) enlisted in the AIF at Leongatha on 25 April 1916, and was a Private attached to 23rd Infantry Battalion when he embarked with his Unit from Melbourne for Plymouth on 25 September 1916 on board HMAT A9 Shropshire. Promoted to Saddler Corporal on 17 October 1917, he served in France with 23rd Infantry Battalion and was attached to 2nd Divisional Train on 6 October 1919 when he embarked from Southampton for Melbourne on board HT Pakeha. Corporal Le Serv was attached to 2nd Divisional Train at Discharge on 8 January 1920.

Albert was second of five children of Alfred Le Serv (b1847 in Surrey, England) and Eliza Jane Holloway (b1855 in London, England). Alfred (a Groom and Coachman) and Eliza married in 1877 in London, and in 1884 immigrated with their first three children, arriving in Sydney NSW on board the Warwick. Alfred and Eliza settled in Leichardt in Sydney, where they raised their family and Alfred worked as Saddler and Park Ranger.

Albert was in Lang Lang, Victoria in the early 1900s, and worked as Labourer and Harness Maker. In 1905 he married Lily Hannah Hunter (b1879 at Pleasant Creek, Victoria) - Albert and Hannah lived in Lang Lang until 1914, when they settled in Poowong. Albert was a Harness Maker when he enlisted in the AIF and, following his Discharge, he and Lily settled in Poowong where they raised their family and Albert was a Harness Maker and Labourer. In the 1930s Albert moved to Melbourne and then to Sydney NSW where he died in 1946. Lily died in Poowong in 1955.
