Originally from Kent, England, Gnr Turnour was a farmer from Cohuna, Victoria prior to enlistment, and embarked with the 19th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Port Sydney on 7 September 1916.
Later suffering from asthma, he returned to Australia on 18 October 1917 and was medically discharged on 1 February 1918.
Brother of John Edward Turnour, James Owen Turnour who also enlisted in the AIF.
