"PRIVATE JAMES ZAHNLEITER
Pte James Zahnleiter, whose name appeared in yesterday's list, was the second eldest son of Mrs A. Zahnleiter, of Corbett street. He was educated at the Christian Brothers' school, and was for 10 years employed at Berry Anderson's. He took part in the campaign at Gallipoli, and was at the evacuation. He was killed in actioln in France on the 25th July. His younger brother, Philip was killed in action on the 26th April, 1915. Much sympathy has been expressed for the family in their double bereavement." - from the Ballarat COurier 23 Aug 1916 (nla.gov.au)
