South Petherton is a very large village / small country town and civil parish on the River Parrett in the South Somerset district of Somerset, England. It is 5 miles (8 km) east of Ilminster and 5 miles (8 km) north west of Crewkerne.

The Australian town Tungkillo, South Australia was formerly called South Petherton.

He was 21 and the son of Richard and A. Fortt, of Bridgeway, South Petherton, Somerset, England.
