Son of Edward Burt and Alice Maud Burt nee Latham of Johnsonville, near Tambo, Victoria later of Geelong, West, Victoria. Edward Stanley Burt enlisted in the AIF on 29 March 1915 and he was allocated to the 5th Infantry Battalion. He suffered a series of hospital admissions and was later returned to Australia and appointed to Instructional Staff. He was finally discharged from active service medically unfit. His brothers also fell.
