Daniel increased his age

In researching the grave of "Daniel Cassin" at Gore Hill Cemetry in NSW, I discovered his son: Ferdinand Daniel Cassin.

FD Cassin did enlist in 1917 into the AIF Camel Corps but on his attestation documents, he put his age at 19yo. He was in fact born in 1900.

Later in his service records, there is a pen-amend that shows his first name is actually Ferdinand. Thankfully, the slouthing was able to occur due to his mother's unusual first name, "Descederia". From this clue, I was able to piece togetehr that Daniel Cassin at Gore Hill is Ferdinand's father who passed in 1918.

Ferdinand was also called onto serve in WWII. His records show his correct name, his previous service in the Camel Corps and his correct date of birth!

The pieces come together. He lived a long life; passing away in 1984. RIP Ferdinand.
