DEATH OF MR. HARRY CLIFTON
WISHART.
SEMI-MILITARY FUNERAL.
Mr. Harry Clifton Wishart, butcher, of Poochera, died suddenly in the Streaky Bay Hospital on Tuesday morning. He was admitted to hospital the previous evening, when Dr. B. M. Jolly administered immediate treatment, but despite all efforts to save his life, he passed away at 4.30 a.m. The coroner, Mr. F. R. H. Rogers, deemed an inquest unnecessary.
The late Mr. Wishart, who had lived in the Streaky Bay district since 1928, was a highly respected citizen, and in the course of his business, which he conducted in Streaky Bay until 1936, made many friends who deeply regret his death.
He was a returned soldier, having served in the Great War as a member of the 9th. Light Horse and as a cameleer in the Imperial Camel Corps in Egypt, under Lord Allenby. The late gentle man was a constant sufferer from injuries sustained in the war, and of late the state of his health has been very mediocre.
As Mrs. Wishart was in Adelaide at the time of her husband's death, the funeral was postponed until 9.30 a.m. yesterday (Thursday).
The burial was held with semi-military honours and the pallbearers were Messrs. W. Mitchell, J. A. Mudge, G. H. Shaw, F. P. G. Smith, F. P. G. Barns (returned men) and R. Fleming. Rev. W. Hounslow performed the ceremony. As the ceremony concluded, returned men each paid their last respects to a comrade by dropping a poppy on the casket. Many wreaths and beautiful flowers adorned the grave.
